Biography

Rosie J was born in Iqaluit and raised by her late grandfather Pauloosie Angmarlik in Qikiqtarjuaq (Broughton Island). At the age of 13, she was adopted by her aunt Ooleepeeka Audlakiak.
Working as the Inuit Liaison officer for the Dew-Line in Qikiqtarjuaq, Rosie decided to pursue her studies as a Fur Designer and moved to Iqaluit in 2009. Rosie is currently attending the Fur Production and Design Program at Nunavut Arctic College, completing her Diploma as a Fur Designer.

As a project in her course, Rosie’s sealskin cape embellished with beadwork was selected to give away as a fundraiser to the “Embrace Life Council”, an organization that develops awareness of healthy life in Nunavut.  Upon completion of her course, Rosie is planning to start her own business as a Designer and Sewing group Coordinator in her community.
